Fused Glass Shoal of Fish Artwork in a frame - This special piece is made up of lots of tiny individual handmade fused glass fish. Each fish is cut to size and shape, out of a clear base glass, using both a handheld glass cutter and a bigger electric glass saw. I then add a variety of different textures of tiny pieces of glass to each one (using tweezers), which vary from thin cylindrical pieces of glass (called ‘Stringers’), medium, fine and coarse pieces of Frit (tiny to larger crushed granules of glass) to Confetti (flattened pieces of glass)! They are then placed at a very high temperature in the kiln and left for the kiln to work its magic! The fish are then spaced out on the glass frame and glued straight onto the glass insert to complete the finished work of art.
