Fused Glass Autumnal Hedgehog on Wooden Stand: This is made by drawing out my design on a piece of coloured glass, hand cutting around the shape, then using an electric saw to slowly cut the individual spikes on the hedgehog to form it’s shape. I then cut up scraps of glass using mosaic cutters, and then place them carefully on top of the hedgehog’s body, building the layers slightly, finding just the right shape to fit! I then hand paint any detail on by using a needle point nib, and special liquid glass.
Next I cut out a clear glass base to sit the hedgehog on and then lots of tiny granules of glass is applied called ‘Frit’, using tiny spoons (and a lot of patience!) to create the leaves/undergrowth effect, this is then all fused together in the kiln.
Note: No two pieces will be exactly the same due to these being handmade, and therefore unique.
