Fused Glass Moors Curved scene - This process starts with me sieving on powdered glass to create the background colours onto a clear glass base (also cut by hand), which then goes into the kiln to set as a first firing. This then continues with me cutting out a strip of glass and placing it at the bottom of the scene. I then paint by hand using a needle point nib, and special liquid glass the fine detail. Then lots of tiny granules of glass is applied called ‘Frit’, using tiny spoons (and a lot of patience!) to create the leaves and flowers, which is then fused for a second time in the kiln. Finally it is then placed on a curved mould and put into the kiln for its final firing which enables the glass to slump over this mould to form the curved shape.
Note: No two pieces will be exactly the same as they are handmade (colours will vary slightly too).
